Help us solve cold cases with your own family tree.
You've worked for years, maybe even decades, on your own family tree. It's a legacy for your family for sure, but what if you could use it for even more good? The Cold Case Coalition is asking for your donation in the form of your family tree to help us solve cold cases.
As genetic genealogy plays a larger role in solving cold cases, the spaces in which this work can be done is shrinking. Your family tree can help this important work continue. Simply upload your family tree in the form of a GEDCOM (.ged or .zip file) that almost any tree builder software can export.
No matter if your tree is 20 people or 20,000 people, we appreciate it all!
GEDCOM stands for Genealogical Data Communication. A GEDCOM file is a standardized, text-based format used to transfer genealogical data between family-tree programs and websites. It holds essential details like names, dates, places, and relationships, but usually excludes photos and other media.
Most software programs work like this:
1. Go to your Account Settings.
2. Find your Family Tree.
3. Export your Tree to your computer.
Note: Do NOT click on or open your .ged or .zip file before you upload it to us as this could compromise links to sources.
Click the button below to upload either a .ged or .zip file up to 20MB. If your file is bigger than 20MB, please contact us and we'll find an alternative solution.
Note: Do NOT click on or open your .ged or .zip file before you upload it to us as this could compromise links to sources.

Our nonprofit is committed to protecting your privacy. We promise to safeguard your family tree data using secure systems, strict access controls, and clear internal policies that prevent unauthorized use or sharing. We are grateful for your participation in this work!
